That only lasted about 3 > days. Those are spasms of the intercostal muscles between the ribs. I have had them for years. It only hurts when you breathe or your heart beats. The rest of the time it is fine! It usually lasts for one to three days, but if you can catch it quickly enough, when it is first starting, take a painkiller and lie down on a heating pad, you can sometimes abort the attack. The problem is that you tense up from the pain, and the tensing up makes the spasm's spread to adjoining muscles until you can hardly breathe. If you can stop the pain and get heat on the muscles, you can sometimes limit it to half a day or so. If it gets REALLY BAD you can go to the ER and they can give you a muscle relaxant shot that stops it immediately. The first time it happened, I thought I was having a heart attack and rushed to the ER. They gave me a shot and it went away in a matter of minutes. Cold makes it worse, so try to stay warm. A hot bath or shower helps. Sharon
