Guest guest
Hectic but great. And, is it any surprise to anyone that you can move three hours and load and unload everything and get into a new apartment and accomplish almost anything, but the cable company will never go right. And, phones have gotten about as bad. You spend what seems like half your adult life giving them the order, finally getting it just right, making sure, double checking, but by the time the install date comes its far from perfect. My ex-wife recently moved and it sounds funny now but does it have to be like this....ok move went fine. But, lets start with cable/dish. Well, Time Warner Cable not available because complex like many hear has entered into exclusive agreement with Grande who of course gets service from Time Warner but offers only some of it. So, confirmed in advance that dish could be put on her patio rail and would work on that side. Oh takes about an hour and half to place the order but all seems set and install date fine. Oh and does have to be two year commitment even through lease only one year but they assure that if you move and can't get dish service at new location due to view or whatever, they let you out. Now, they do call a few days after, nearly three weeks early, wanting to let her know they have an opening and can come on and do the install. She does have to explain that she doesn't have the apartment yet. Ok, thats fine. Now the installer actually shows up a little early. Oh, this is going good, right? But then says he can't put on Patio Rail, complex says on tripod on patio only and can't get reception from there. Now he is nice enough to wait until office opens about thirty minutes later and she lucks out that the leasing director who leased to her is there and remembers and confirms fine on rail and writes document to that effect. Ah, all well again. Now, he proceeds to run cables, hook up dvrs, taking forever but smooth. Until. He goes to activate service and finds none. The office says they don't show an order for programming. Now, obviously he's there so must have been one. Now she has to try from memory to tell them what was ordered and they have to reenter for some reason. Well, whole thing took 5 hours but it was done. Story Over. Oh, no. First bill comes and she's invoiced for two complete services. Everything twice. Both orders obviously. The one that couldn't be found and the extra one entered. So, she has to explain that one wouldn't have two entire services for one apartment and the whole long story. Oh the whole exclusive deal and not allowing your choice of cable provider has been ruled illegal by FCC and only in place until apartment complexes exhaust their appeals. Now, phone and internet, easy....oh, bite your tongue. Well, Grande doesn't offer cable internet although Time Warner does so have to get phone and internet on DSL. Grande is also chosen provider there although of course they get it from AT & T. However, Grande doesn't choose to offer the same speeds as AT & T. So, order from AT & T. She also gives disconnect for old location. Oh, this only takes another hour and a half or so. They have to confirm that what is available really is and go through offering you a million other things even though you told them initially exactly what you wanted. But its set. However, where to ship modem comes up and she tries to find out when they will do so. They say immediately so she says ship to old location. They don't understand but agree. Now, modem doesn't show. She calls. Oh, we don't ship until your phone turn on date. So, can't have modem there when phone is connected? Oh, you'd want that? Well...duh. Ok, we'll ship it to old address. No, hold it, I'm ready to move now...ship to new address. Solved and modem actually arrives by move. But, no phone service. AT & T says problem is inside so must call apartment maintenance. Apartments say AT & T have to enter workorder with Grande which owns wiring. AT & T says no way. Calls Grande, they say yes they need to but we never got order for initial turn on from them. Now, they get online with AT & T contact and all gets worked out and a couple of days later phone comes on and I install internet and all works. Moving Hard. Getting Cable, Phone and Internet right Impossible...lol > > > Hi to all MY PF PALS! > > Sorry it has taken me so long to sit down and write about 's move > to Nashville.
