Guest guest
Let me tell you...OUTCOMES and STATS can be altered to look how anyone wants them. The questions to ask are:How does your doctor care for patients with problems...ie: pain, ED, Impotence, psychological concerns? ( Your doctor does not need to be able treat these, but should be aware these are common post operative issuses, and know of doctors or professional he can refer to address them!Do they believe their way is the ONLY way to help patients? If so... it may be a warning sign!Do they believe in treating the "whole person", in believing that nutrition and that the thought process contribute greatly to healing also? Will they support you if you also decide to incorporate the above in your healing!Wife of a PC patient! To: ProstateCancerSupport Sent: Sunday, August 21, 2011 10:57 AMSubject: former patients Hi, I'm interested in talking to former patients of Dr. Greg Merrick at the Shiffler Cancer Center in Wheeling West Virginia, or anyone that knows anything about him. f He is a brachytherapist for prostate cancer. He does very good work but apparently they don't have a list of former patients that prospective patients can talk to. So if you know anything about Dr. Greg Merrick or know of anyone who was treated there, I'd be interested in hearing from you. I gather he's not very well known amongst the prostate cancer patient community but he's very well known amongst the academic/ research community and had the best reported outcomes on the PCRI May 2011 article on Longterm Outcomes for Prostate Cancer Therapy Choices.
