Guest guest
Hi Louise, The message Shanna Snow just sent is correct about yeast overgrowth. I will elaborate and tell what I disagree with in her message at the end here. But first to answer your questions. What I meant by saying you have a problem if you don't need to lose weight and are on the yeast free diet is that not only does this diet eliminate yeast boosting foods (if you are on the strict diet) but it is also very low in calories, and if you are already thin you need to eat more than most of us to maintain your ideal weight. For the rest of us, the low caloric intake has been great for also helping us lose the weight we gained from using Prednisone. I only need to lose about 8 more pounds and then I will have to include more calories in my diet too. Do you have to have vaginal yeast infections, thrush or finger/toe nail infections to be considered as having systemic yeast? NO !! Doctor who think this are wrong !! If you read the Candida Syndrome I sent you will see that there are MANY different symptoms of yeast overgrowth. The biggest clue is when most or all your symptoms disappear when you start the diet. Matter of fact, even tho there are test to see if you have candida, they are not always accurate. The best way to find out is with the diet and elimination of foods that feed the yeast and keep them thriving. The one thing I disagree with Shanna on is the diet. It can, and is the only thing that will eliminate the yeast by taking away their food supply. It is important to do an intestinal cleanse, drink lots of water, preferable distilled or purified, stick to the strict diet and take the recommended supplements which help eradicate yeast and also the ones to help bring the intestines back to their normal state of health. Taking an oral antifungal is not absolutely necessary, however, it can help the eradication process work faster. Lamisil is the best oral antifungal as it not only inhibits the yeast but also kills it. This is also how the very strict diet works. It kills the yeast off because you are not giving them anything to keep them alive. However, it is my opinion that the less strict diets only inhibit the yeast and it takes longer to get rid of them. Hope this helps. Hugs, Elaine
