Guest guest
Thanks Jackie, I didn't even know about that web site. I went to see my naturopath today and told him how well I was doing. I can hardly believe it. The changes in the hives over the past 3 days have been dramatic. I have never been sick in my life except 2 mild flues when I was a kid. I always prided myself on my good health and how little I had to work to achieve it. I never excercised and rarely ate nutritiously. I like eating nutritious food but going out to restaurants was always easier. Now I find if I walk through a food court in a mall I look at the stuff like it is poison. I sure hope though I can get back to eating stuff like potatoes and popcorn again and the odd potato chip. I loved the salt. The first thing I am going to make once I start back on pototoes is homemade fries in the oven. I bought sea salt at the health food store, it's even better than table salt. Well I should go. Take care, Louise
Guest guest
Louise, How long have you been on your diet? Or rather how long were you on the diet when you noticed youself doing better in regards to the hives? I am having trouble on the diet with menus. I am a born and raised Kansan, bread is in my soul. ha ha Love & Peace to all, P. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, I have been on the diet for about 2 weeks. The reason I am hiving according to my naturopath is because my immune system is down. When the immune system is down and something comes near your body that your body just doesn't want to deal with it puts up its arms and starts to " fight " . Kinda like when we get in a bad mood and everything annoys us. That is why I have the hives. Even though my allergy tests from the medical allergist were all negative my naturopath did his own tests and says I have one of the worst case of allergies he has ever seen. He has advised me to stay away from the allergens as much as I can, especially SUGAR! until I can get my immune system strong again. Today I took in my environmentally friendly laundry detergent, shampoo from Watkins and Melaleuca (both environmentally friendly companies) and pure glycerin soap (from the health food store) - I reacted to all of them. When I say shower in the morning, my weak immune system has to deal with all that, right til I get dressed and then it has to deal with the soap residue all day on my clothes. That is why I am hiving - because of a weak immune system from years of poor eating habits, no excercise and worrying. Now, when I was taking the antihistimines I was adding another poison to my body. My immune system was given 1 more thing to deal with. My itching was so bad, I believed I could not live without the drugs. Somewhere on the internet I read that taking antihistimines can make you actually worse. They'll stop the itch (in my case), but, when they wear off the itching is worse. I started my diet and about 4 or 5 days into it my naturopath told me to try and quit taking them or it would take longer for me to get better. I reluctantly and hesitantly took his advice. I itched horribly for about 2 days The itch was so bad I was " moaning " . I could not scratch everywhere quick enough. And then it gradually subsided. By about the 8th or 9th day, I really noticed a difference. I am not afraid to go out, to get out of bed in the middle of the night or anything. I am still hiving but the hives are smaller and not as intense. I can live with it now without drugs. I will be staying on the diet hopefully forever but once I am well I will sneak in the odd treat but not like I was. Treats will be cut down to a small portion a couple of times a week. If you are having trouble with the menus, try just cutting all sugar out wherever possible. READ the ingredients on EVERYTHING you eat. If you can't live without the bread, cut down on it. Don't try and dive into the diet just start with cutting the sugar. Did you know even canned spaghetti sauce has sugar in it? Also cut down on fruit for the first little while. Stay away from raisins or any dried fruits as they are full of sugar. Today my naturopath told me that I do not need to go on a strict candida diet (Thank God!). All I have to do is cut out the sugar. If after a week or 2 with no sugar you notice no improvement, cut out fruit AND bread for a week or 2. If you still notice no improvement cut out all simple carbs (ie: white rice, regular pasta, potatoes). Stick with all whole grains and experiment. Quinoa, Amaranth, and Buckwheat are really good. I am kinda having an adventure with food. I've eaten a lot of new foods this week. Also, try and buy your vegies and fruits locally grown and as much organic grown grains etc. as possible. It's a little more expensive to eat this way but I know it is cheaper for me as I used to eat out a lot and go out often for ice cream sundays and cafe latte. Oh yeah, try and quit coffee too if you drink it and any form alcohol as well. Mushrooms also are not good as they are a fungus and with a candida diet you are trying to get rid of fungus. Try and eliminate vinegar for awhile too. Most literature I've read say to stay away from mushrooms entirely. Sorry for all the writing but one more thing. Usually the food that you crave the most is your worst enemy. It is the one that will cause you to react. Food allergies can be immediate or can take as long as the next day to surface. Question: Do you crave bread? Once you start to feel better and have felt better for quite some time you can reintroduce foods. 1 per day and see how you react. Try to build up to 60% of your diet every day is raw vegies. I'm not there, I still cook, steam or stir fry. I do eat a huge bowl of salad every day though. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse.
