Guest guest
I am starting to slowly increase my dose to 100 mgs minocin bid daily from a MWF schedule.(adding 50 mgs a week). I have been doing well, but have discomfort in wrists and hands in tendons, not in joints. I would like to hear from people who have increased or at least to find out how many of us are on daily v.s. 3 days a week. Dr. Chiu, could you please tell us the rationale for 7 days a week v.s. 3 days on the minocin. Sorry if I missed your explanation. , glad you're doing great. Guest guest
It scares me too (the yeast) but I have basically eliminated all sugar and take acidophilus with FOS twice a day (whoops! forgot morning dose), I figure I'll try and see what happens. Guest guest
, I upped my dose about 3 weeks ago from MWF 200mg. to every day. That's when the brain fog, depression, and tiredness/weakness got way worse. I decided this week to go to every other day and that seemed to help decrease those symptoms. My swelling did not change on the daily dose though. I have SI problems from the PA and the weakness from the daily dose seemed to aggravate my back problems. I got an appointment to see Dr. Franco for my first time this Jan.3rd! I'm real excited and I'm hoping this extended herx will pass soon. From: SEG14@... Guest guest
- I just this week increased Minocin from 50 mg. bid daily to 100 mg. bid daily, and am doing very well so far. Never was on the MWF schedule I'm reading about here. Also, however, I am still on methotrexate but decreased one more again, now at 5 mg. week. (was up to 10 mg. MX a week before Dr. Trentham). Every week I'm noticing less pain, and I'm so grateful for this AP, the group and certain individuals here (you know who you are!). Thanks so much. Guest guest
, So far I haven't been prone to any yeast infections. I've been on minocin for 4 months and take 100 mg. twice a day. I'm awfully new to this--don't know if yeast will become a problem down the line. I try to eat yogurt daily, but haven't taken acidophilus as yet. I have cut down on sugar. So far so good. My best to you--Patti RA 8/99 AP 8/

I used to have such a bad cholesterol problem and chronic yeast infections. Now on the low carb diet the doctor said, " Oh, you must have good genes, your cholestorol level is wonderful. " I eat bacon and eggs and meat every day. The diet fixes insulin levels and thus cholesterol. You really need to read PROTEIN POWER though as the diet is not as simple as just not eating sugar. I can't explain it in an email. If you follow it correctly, and it is not difficult, you may not have the yeast or the cholesterol problems. I'm not saying everyone is the same or that it will work for all, but it does seem to work for many - probably those of us with blood sugar level problems or what's called insulin resistance. a Carnes
