Guest guest
Sandy, My physiotherapist has told me that if a joint is swollen, only use ice on it even though heat helps the pain. She said it's more important initially to get the swelling under control because the swelling is what's damaging. I was told heat should only be used in the absence of swelling. She also had me doing knee exercises that I posted earlier and would be glad to resend if you want them, however, I hesitate to suggest you try them when your knee is actively swollen without you getting approval from your doctor. The rationale behind the exercises is that if you build up the surrounding muscles, they support the joint better which should lead to reduced pain and swelling. They also keep mobility in the joint. I've also found magnets to be helpful with swelling and pain but everyone's probably sick to death of hearing that one from me. Hope you find something that helps because I have bad knees myself and I know how difficult it is to cope with them. Hugs, a Peden Sandy wrote: > I have a knee problem.
