At present the best information that we have is that the best

responses to deep brain stimulation are in people who respond

to sinemet there have been a few attempts at deep brain stimulation

in parkinson plus patients including multiple system atrophy and by

and large they have been failures

why dbs does not work has to do with our imperfect knowledge of

multiple system atrophy at this point i would not recommend surgery in msa

except under extra-ordinary circumstances

Abe Lieberman

Why is DBS not appropriate for MSA ? Will stem cells be of benefit?
