Guest guest
Hello everyone, I,m feeling a little nervous, as this is my first e mail to the group, I,ve been out there in the ether, watching and learning! and was tempted to speak up, at last, regarding Methotrexate, bearing in mind this is only my experience. I've had RA for maybe 8yrs a couple of years before that, before diagnosis, I did the usual run of strong pain killers an ti-inflammatory drugs, then salphasalazine, which was wonderful for a while, I next had a massive flare-up, which knocked me for six. It was at this point that my specialist put me on methotrexate and whilst he kept telling me to persevere, I was in chronic pain, unable lift my head of the pillow, this went on for some time before he decided to add prednisolone, things were great from then, but like everyone, I imagine, I started to question the use of all these drugs(easy when your feeling better). It was years later, when my daughter, first went on the web, that I heard about Dr Brown and the AP treatment. The whole family became quite upbeat about the whole thing, we read everything we could find, having to send to the US for some books. I approached my specialist, thinking he would laugh me out of his surgery, But, he listened to what I to say and pointed out that its not recognised treatment in the UK, to-day I'm the only one of patients who in on this treatment, because I feel so much better. I finally got rid of the methotrexate, three months ago, only on 5mg steroids and one naproxin per day now. the point is ( you knew there was a point to it, didn't you!)I always felt wretched on Metho. never felt is was right for me, and haven't missed it, incidentally, we are adviced to take Folic acid with Methotrexate here!. Also, it was a time, when the RA was really active and I consider that the time when I received the most damage to my joints, My hands and feet are really not very good, but I can live with that, with things improving so much on the AP treatment. Sorry if I've bored everyone to death, thank you, for all I have learnt from (listening) in, and I promise not prattle on so, next time. Good luck to every one, what ever your needs or endeavours, and please is there anyone out there from the UK, would love to hear from them. Kind regards from Pat Garside From Rochester, the UK.
