I started to go on the AP last year - have had long standing RA dx'd in

1986 - but didn't as I was able to bring the RA under control with

herbs. Homeopathy, together with dietary modifications put my RA into

remission (sleep) back in the late 80's, but it woke up with a vengeance

and this time I eschewed the traditional Allopathic route... which

brought me to the AP. (an Allopathic variant, I suppose.) But in a last

ditch effort I went back to the Homeopath who helped me before and he

put me on RA SPES this time (an herbal) that was like a miracle. I've

been on that since last July. It put my RA " technically " into remission,

once again. Others on and off the list have reported very good results

with it as well.

Today I still take it but I added Doxy about 2 months ago in hope that

since my joints are all down again, etc., it will be able to do it's job

properly. Unexpectedly, I noticed more improvement with the Doxy within

a few days. My plan is to try a re-introduction of glucosamine sulfate

after a few months for cartilage help (providing I can find an allergy

free brand that does not make my knees swell up like the last one I

tried.) Either way I will continue the AP therapy for the long-term

until all symptoms and labs are normal for at least 6 months. Then I

will re-evaluate the therapy and decide whether to continue or

discontinue on a maintenance dose.

Ray Barrett and many others on the list reported they had good results

(dramatic) with the RA SPES too, but it is expensive and as an herbal it

is not covered by most insurance. Ray said he plateaued after a time,

which is common - I did too but have stayed with it for the longer run

to see what happens. The effects continue and improve, but are not as

dramatic as you get better. Figures, when your swelling is down 80% and

2/10 now equals 100%, improvements are bit less obvious.) Ray has

recently reported having very good results with HBOT therapy (Hyperbaric

Oxygen chamber). I am hopeful that when he returns from helping his

friend he will have enough time to send an update to the group. The HBOT

sounds like a workable possibility.

However, for real excitement, I am intrigued by another lady who has

reported a return to normalcy (labs, symptoms, etc.) following the

therapy started by Royal Rife III back in the late 20's and

early 30's. I do not recall her name off hand, nor the therapy, but

Ethel would have more info on that if you are interested. I believe she

ventured to Europe for that - which is a bit rich for my blood at this

time, but who knows about tomorrow?

Another member of the list (female - can't remember who off hand) said

she achieved similar results using olive leaf extract I believe. If

memory serves, it was because she had some problem or another with the

Rx drugs. This was within the last couple of weeks.

So the short answer is - yes. For me, most recently with herbs.

No caring Doctor, be they Allopathic, Homeopathic, Naturopathic,

Herbalist or whatever, wants to see any of us hurting or getting worse.

But we must all understand that they, like we, are limited by their

experience and training. In their case usually an individual chosen art,

such as Allopathic medicine. Being a good Allopath simply isn't always

enough, and Allopathy has very little to offer those of us with chronic

diseases today, save toxic drugs, hidden symptoms through the mask of

corticosteroids like Prednisone, and long-term antibiotics. I don't

think anyone wishes it were not so more than the physician who spends

his entire professional life watching perhaps 5,000 or more people from

his own community, including friends and loved ones, slowly, inexorably

have their lives stolen from them while their bodies rot and wither in

pain. This nascent group, and the computer support structure which makes

it possible, is one of the fledgling ways to extend both their knowledge

and ours, so that we may all look beyond the fence which constitutes our

training and experience and see other, successful ways of treating these

horrid diseases.
