Guest guest
Joni; There have already been some excellent answers to your post, but I wanted to take a moment to address your fourth one: >Question #4-- Is there any evidence that the OCD gene is passed by >the mother to her offspring or by the father? Just curious. I know >that *I* passed on the color-blind gene to 2 of my 3 sons. It's >carried by the female to her male offspring, and females are rarely >color-blind. Ironic that my two sons that are color-blind are also >the ones with the ADHD and OCD. What's the connection, if any? I'm not sure what the current research indicates about the genetic transmissibility of OCD, but I can offer some anecdotal evidence. Though I was the first in my family to be diagnosed (since I was the first to seek treatment), it runs through my mother's side of the family fairly strongly. One cousin was hospitalized for it for a time, her mother shows signs of mild OCD, and another aunt definitely has strong obsessions about cleaning and arranging. One relative on my father's side also had what I would classify as medium-strength OCD. I would be very interested in hearing what others have to say about this; since I would love to have children of my own some day, it's an issue which could have a definite effect on my life. -

Guest guest
Hi , My name is also . I have been off the meds for a little over a year now. the change in trying to stay off them is a rough one for me, since I also have periodontaitis, the infections in my gums weigh on my immune system, It's been a very rough battle with the diet though, Ie to stay away from meds , my whole eatting regimine has changed which cause their own problems. for instance, I Love Milk, but, when I have it, in any form it complicates everything. sinuses, ect. try a dietician, they can help. although fixing the meals on a tight budget is another thing. Fed up with the medics!. That means everything. What does one do to go off them when the government forces them onto you? What if you refuse to take them and they take you to Mental Homes? Tom J Purcell wrote: Hello all, Any here alive and healthy without taking hiv meds or any related preventitive drugs like Bactrim/Dapsone? Say YES! Need some encouragement. My dr. recommended Reyataz/Norvir and Dapsone for PCP - I have taken it for 13 days....and feel like crap. I am trying to discern over what side effects are from the meds and/or the chemotherapy I am undergoing for the lymphoma. I quit the hiv meds today! Had it. I want quality of life...not feeling ill all the time. I have realized I have to listen to my body......its been a little ruff. Please no drama or bashing.......if any want to write me personally for support I thank you. paul Read AIDS-Cured

Guest guest
Not everyone is bi-lateral. I had pain all on one side..rarely on both. At least, that's what I think! My RA has affected both feet and ankles and both arms, elbows and wrists.
