Guest guest
Hi Bev: Thanks for the advice. I don't have any discharge, I don't think, but did have some vertigo today. But then again, this 2 second type of dizziness has been going on (and off) for about a yr. now. Last Fall, a month before I started AP for RA, my GP put me on an antibiotic for sinus infection, assuming it was that. It did help 99 % but every once in a while I'd get that dizziness for a split second. But now I am having (minor) pain and believe whatever it is, it is still there. I assume (hope, hope) the culture wasn't a big deal to do, right? Babs RA 8/98, DX 4/99, AP 11/99 200 mg. Minocin 112 mcg. Synthroid 2 mg. Hytrin 10 mg. Lipitor Mestinon Vits. & Misc. Suplmts. Guest guest
Babs, I haven't had dizziness but rather a tight feeling in the head and pressure feeling in the ear. They put a Q-tip in your ear to collect any discharge and it doesn't hurt a bit. The sinus and stuffy nose is a problem for me too but it seems to go with the territory. Guest guest
Hi Connie: Thanks for the info/site re: relapsing polychondritis. It does sound nasty and evidently, closely associated with RA. Hmmm. I'm not convinced this is my problem but will inquire of Dr. T. when I see him, i.e. about this ear. It is inside my ear, not on the outer, but that may not preclude this possible illness. I sure hope it is not (yet another) autoimmune disease I'd have to contend with! Hey Bev - what do YOU think about this (with your ear problems...)? Interesting, no? Babs RA 8/98, DX 4/99, AP 11/99 200 mg. Minocin 112 mcg. Synthroid 2 mg. Hytrin 10 mg. Lipitor Mestinon Vits. & Misc. Suplmts.
Guest guest
Babs, Sounds pretty grim, doesn't it. I hope your ear problem clears up and you don't have to worry about it. Guest guest
Hi Babs ! Dean here . Have you tried tea tree oil ? I have had a continual problem with fungus in the ears since I picked up from the crappy water in 3rd world countries that I lived in - Brazil and Egypt. I tried the oil from Vitamin Shoppe) after some of the recent postings from our friends in Australia. It seems to have really helped ! The first time I used it, it burned like crazy, then the next day a bunch of dried stuff came out of my ears - it looked like dry skin but was probably not. I don't want to know what it was ! I hope you feel better soon , too. You seem to have a lot of the same reactions that I do to medications, etc. Maybe we are really twins , except I am a little older than you I think -- so much for that idea. Guest guest
Are you supposed to (or did you) apply it right to your skin, or did you use it internally (swallow)? Re: rheumatic Sore Ear Hi Babs ! Guest guest
Sorry I didn't copy all on my response to Zanash. I just put a few drops in each ear -- as an eardrop. It burned for a couple of minutes and then was OK. Subsequent treatments did not burn so I don't know for sure what it reacted with, but ever since, my ears have been much better and not so prone to aches, etc.........Dean.
