Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Thursday, December 30, 2004 22:23 Subject: Remicaide, Methotrexate and Lymphoma I just got word from a friend in another group. She was diagnosised with lymphoma and will udergo surgery to remove the lymph nodes, breast and any other tissue in her chest to neck area that is involved. She is very upset because she had been on Methotrexate for a long time and then on Remicaide. I guess she is one of those that define those lymphoma statistics. Please pray for her. She is a young women in her 30s This just further drives home the fact that at this point in time none of these meds are safe enough for me to even think about taking ever again!!! Guest guest
I feel so sorry for your friend. How long had she been taking these drugs? I am very freaked out about this because I have swollen lymph nodes and breast pain. I have Costochondritis which causes these symptoms but now this is making me think this is something worse! I would love not to be on these medications. I had been on Embrel for 6 months, and now Humira for a year, but the pain from RA was just so bad and it was going on for so long. I guess I am taking my chances but my alternative is certain deformity and cripledness. There's just no easy answer for us all. Well, lets all hope and pray we all have a better 2005! Guest guest
I too am sorry to hear about your friend. It does bring home the side effects issue we all wrestle with. However after dealing with RA for 25 years, I don't believe I would be using this computer today if not for these drugs which have held my RA at bay a good part of the time. My RA doesn't flare and then disappear for a while. It " smoulders " waiting for a chance to progress. It's always a personal choice but I feel I am better off with them than without. So I guess I agree with Annette > > I feel so sorry for your friend. How long had she been taking these drugs? I > am very freaked out about this because I have swollen lymph nodes and > breast pain.
