Guest guest
>Does garlic help as a preventative against yeast? > > One of my herbal books says that garlic has been shown to be effective against candida albicans in clinical trials. It says that allicin is believed to be the effective agent. I'll see if I can find any more info on this for you. Liz G.
Guest guest
Dear Group, Because this question keeps popping up in my " Inbox, " I pulled out my trusty " Prescription for Nutritional Healing " by Dr. Balch (urologist by training). I don't have time to type the whole thing, but I will mention some of the things he reports about garlic: Lowers blood pressure, reduces risks of blood clots and aids in preventing heart attacks, lowers serum cholesterol and aids in digestion, a potent immune stimulant and natural antibiotic, has antibacterial effect equivalent to 1% of that of penicillin, it was used to treat wounds and infections and to prevent gangrene during WWI. It is effective against fungal infections, including athlete's foot, systemic candidasis, yeast vaginitis, and there is some evidence it may destroy certain viruses, such as associated with fever blisters, genital herpes, a form of the common cold. Garlic oil is good for the heart and colon, and is effective in the treatment of arthritis, candidiasis, and circulation problems. Whew!!!! And he wasn't through yet. So much for the course in Garlic 101. Billie Re: rheumatic garlic for yeast? >From: " Liz G.
