Guest guest
and any one else who has taken/is taking prednisone- From what I was told, pred-related joint and bone pain is from damage and a lack of calcium. The prednisone " sucks " the calcium right out of you. Result: damage causing joint and bone pain, muscle cramps, hypocalcemia (too low of blood-calcium levels) with tetni (very painful - the muscles lock up, need mega doses of calcium injected to make it stop), osteoporosis, breaking of teeth, soft teeth, back problems. If you are menopausal, and not taking sufficient hormone replacement therapy, this compounds the problem. Anyone taking prednisone should be on calcium supplements, and menopausal women taking pred need even more calcium. Also, pred can cause problems for something like two years after you stop taking it. Continue with the supplements during this time, and if you ever need dental work or any surgery done, always inform the dentist or surgeon if you have taken pred within past two years. - Hugs coming at you, Jackie > _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Hi , I get a lot of pain in my ankles and my legs ache continuously. I also have bruising around my ankles but this is the place where I get angioedema. My Dr says it is the basophills that cause the aches, I am on Celebrex for it now. My legs feel the worst when I wake up in the morning. If I walk too much I get pain in my feet, I am sure it is connected to my hives. I also think that my 20 years of smoking hasn't helped. I have a lot of spider veins on my legs, GP says my vascular system in compromised by the constant urticaria. I have veins on my chest and neck too. I haven't had a course of predisnolone for three months now and I still ache. Wish I could send a camera around my insides to check me out. Mootie Oz ----Original Message Follows---- From: march@... If the latter, I'm prepared to double up!!! The knee and ankle pain I am experiencing the last few days has me doubling over! Any information definately appreciated.
