Guest guest
Good Evening all Had my first Remicade IV yesterday... Was hoping to see some results already, my doctor had said some patients feel better while they are getting the IV. Today I woke up to tired to go to work .. Dr put me off work until Friday. Anyone else on Remicade? how is it working for you? how long did it take to see improvement? Guest guest
I came down with a severe case of sudden-onset RA about 3 years ago and was started with 40 mg Prednisone so I could hobble to the bathroom, and I also got Arava to stop or slow the progress of the disease. After about 4 months with little or no help the doctor added Methotrexate and I took myself off Arava (probably a mistake). Anyway four months later with little or no hlep the doctor added Remicade at 3 mg/kg and gradually increased it to 6 mg/kg. After about 6 months on Remicade with little or no help the doctor decided one more infustion and then we would try something different. Then I started to see improvement. By that time I had managed to get down to about 15 mg Prednisone, but within a few weeks I was able to get completely off Prednisone. I'm still on 12.5 mg Methotrexate weekly and 6 mg/kg Remicade every 8 weeks. I need some help with an antiinflammatory (Ibuprofen or Prednisone) for a week or two before a Remicade infusion but except for that I think I am doing pretty well. Keep hoping for improvement, but don't give up if it takes quite a while for the improvement to show up. Now when I get an infusion I feel better during the last part of the infusion that I did when it was started, but it took a long time for that to start happening that way. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: CHRISINAD@... Guest guest
I also hoped for immediate relief with my first Remicade infusion. I still hope that I will feel the wonderful recuperative effect as soon as that stuff starts flowing into my vein --- but it hasn't happened yet and I doubt that it will. However, I know Remicade is working because when I compare how I feel now versus how I felt 9 months ago I have to believe it is the drug. Also, my rheumy has reduced my dose of MTX because of my response to Remicade. When I told him that some patients feel wonderful right away he said that it takes him about 6 months to ultimately determine someones response to Remicade so he doesn't know how it can work as fast as some people say. Hang in there! Pat
Guest guest
My first infusion I had complications with breathing that were controlled. The next morning I woke up and felt like a new person. Aside from a little joint noise I was feeling the way I was before RA for the most part. When I received the second infusion I had the same breathing issues that were once again controlled. The next morning I wake up and could hardly move. I suppose some antibodies built up or did something because I hadn't been that stiff since I first developed RA. Between the breathing issues during infusion and the stiffness following the 2nd infusion I refused to give it the college try again. I am still waiting for my miracle drug...I hope this is yours! Guest guest
Hi Chrisina, I was on Remicade for about a year - I started noticing improvement after the 3rd infusion. I had hoped (and expected) to feel some relief after the 1st or 2nd infusion, and was starting to get discouraged. Then I had the 3rd one and started feeling better right afterwards. Hang in there - I know it's hard to be patient. Beth > > > Good Evening all > > > > > Had my first Remicade IV yesterday... Guest guest
I am also waiting for my miracle drug... If Remicade is it I will be so grateful. So far nothing has worked for me and my doctor prescribes what he thinks will help without regard for the cost. I think that RA is different in each person and we have to find that *cocktail* of meds that help us. I hurt so bad all the time... I hope this is my *cocktail* but if it isn't I will keep trying. lately my neck has been hurting .... and now I can't raise my head. I know it is the RA... My first infusion I had complications with breathing that were controlled. The next morning I woke up and felt like a new person. Aside from a little joint noise I was feeling the way I was before RA for the most part. When I received the second infusion I had the same breathing issues that were once again controlled.
