Guest guest
From: Femme650 Kitty - What is a CPAP machine?? When I first looked at that I thought it said crap machine and wondered if you had a new puppy! LOL!! ** I wish I could get one of those SelectComfort systems - I'm on their mailing list but once I saw how much they cost I don't even read the literature anymore. Maybe someday. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Femme, Well, I have eight crap machines as well *haha* six cats and two dogs (my children) ... but, this is a C-PAP machine and, to be totally honest, I never remember what the acronym is for ... it is a machine that blows forced air into a mask that fits over your nose (I call it a pig snout) - it is used for patients with sleep apnea to create a continuous feed of air through the nose into the lungs so that your breathing doesn't get too shallow -- shallow breathing, a normal occurrence while sleeping, gets TOO shallow for those with sleep apnea and they literally stop breathing -- so, the machine sends a continuous force of air into the nose to prevent the patient from ceasing to breath ... supposedly, it is also supposed to help you attain a deeper sleep because you are not constantly waking up gasping for air ... to me, it is just a big nuisance and I always ended up waking up, pulling the mask off, feeling I was suffocating ... as for the SelectComfort, I almost fell out of my chair when my husband told me the cost -- but, he received a very hefty bonus this year because he won manager, area and region of the year within his company -- so, we spent part of his bonus on the sleep system. ~ Kitty --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free by AVG.
