Guest guest
I heard a very short report on the news the other night--the kind that NEVER gives enough information--about antibiotic-resistant bacteria. I believe they said that the more fluroquinoline (sp?) type antibiotics we use over a lifetime, the more susceptible we are to antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Is anyone familiar with this class of antibiotics and which antibiotics are in this group? The doctor interviewed was gong to publish an article on this in one of the medical journals. He says antibiotics are overused and that when they are needed, powerful ones at large doses should be given to kill all bacteria involved so that some do not survive and become resistant. He also spoke of the need for new kinds of antibiotics.
