Guest guest
OK, I just got the book yesterday, skimmed it, and read most of the links for the group. I spent all day looking for doctors who prescribe DMPS with no luck. I've called DMPS manufacturers, distributors, and some doctors offices who have prescribed from compounding pharmacies. If I cannot find a doctor in the Chicago area, what's the best next step? Ordering DMSA and trying the 4 hour dosing (25 mg, about 1/5 my weight), 3 days on, 4-11 days off? If I can tolerate the 3/4 day schedule, is it better to go faster (than the 3/11 day schedule)? How important is the hair test? Does it need to be done before chelation begins? I see I can order the hair test without a doctor, does that mean I can monitor the detox myself? Do I really need a doctor to monitor this? I know my regular doctor is pretty open minded, but is too main stream to order a bunch of non-standard tests. If I had my amalgams removed 2 months ago, can I start ALA with the DMSA or DMPS in one month? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. P

TK--- You might try Asking the compounding pharmacies that carry it for doctors that prescribe it. Ordering DMSA and trying the 4 hour dosing (25 mg, about 1/5 my > weight), 3 days on, 4-11 days off? TK--- This is an option for many. I reccommned starting with less 12.5mg for several rounds 3-4 and slowly working up over time. If I can tolerate the 3/4 day > schedule, is it better to go faster (than the 3/11 day schedule)? TK-- if you can tollerate it, it will increase excretion. But longer rounds if you can tollerate them will also and they cause less redistribution. Try three days first and see how you do. > > How important is the hair test? TK-- It helps people a lot in verifying Hg toxicity and to see some progress later. Does it need to be done before > chelation begins? TK--- You should do one before so you have a baseline to compair with later. I see I can order the hair test without a doctor, > does that mean I can monitor the detox myself? TK--- You can but I would suggest just starting with the DMSA or DMPS for at least a month to see how things are going and make sure body burden is low enough to start ALA. Only start with one chelator also so you know what is causing what problems, if you start with two [ALA & DMPS] it will be confusing if you have problems and you will have to start all over to figure it out. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. > > P >
Guest guest
> If I cannot find a doctor in the Chicago area, You could try a DAN! dr., Dr. Usman. I know she does DAN! protocol chelation for kids. I think she has agreed to oversee Andy Cutler's protocol for kids, although I don't know how knowledgeable she is. I don't know if she sees adults. I'm not sure if she would agree to prescribe oral DMPS instead of transdermal. She's in Napierville, ph: I don't know if you have looked at Moria's suggestions on how to find a doctor: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_find_doctor.html W.
