Guest guest
I would like to ask the group to forgive me for posting this personal note on the list serv. However, I would like to thank the kind soul that sent me flowers yesterday. The only clue was " better late than never " and I know it was someone who is part of this group--migrant health research. Thank you so very much. You made my day. The flower arrangement is beautiful. Adolfo

Guest guest
>>>>>I just wanted to thank whoever it was who recommended the book " Going against the Grain " . I got it last night and I'm totally blown away. Really well done and accurate as far as I can tell: it confirms some pet theories I had floating around in my head too! *****wrong list, right subject i think that was Carol Ann on beyondprice. so, i guess you'd recommend the book as well? Thanks for the heads-up, I'll resend it there. Yep, I'd recommend it. It's not scientific enough for some of us " nitpickers " but it's very good if you seem to feel better without grains and want SOME reasoning for it. I also like it because she's not off on one " tangent " -- she covers a multitude of issues with grains (phytates, blood sugar, allergies, intolerances, acid/base, addictions). She also has a kind of testing you can do on yourself to see if your problem is allergy based, or blood sugar based, or an addictive issue. She also acknowledges that there just isn't good science about this yet and it's still largely speculative. But who wants to be sick for the next 20 years while they figure it out? The problem with grains is that they are SO much a part of our society that if they ARE making you sick, it's a big deal to get rid of them (As I can attest from personal experience). This book gives some support! Heidi Schuppenhauer Trillium Custom Software Inc. heidis@...
