I've had 2 colonoscopies. It's not that bad because you're knocked

out. The preperation is the worse part. I'm also had a

sigmoidoscopy. That, I hated. You're awake for that, not fun at all.

I wish you well, you'll be fine. It's not that bad.

Hi Pris,

A sigmoidoscopy is also a procedure to look in the colon, but

the 'equipment' doesn't go as far in, so doesn't look as far up the

colon. Since it doesn't go in as far, you aren't sedated for the

procedure, although you still have to do the enemas in advance to

try to clean things out.

I had one this summer - it wasn't fun at all because (at least for

me) it built up a tremendous amount of gas in the intestines. After

they let me go I spent a good 45 minutes in the bathroom at the

medical building farting out all of the gas that had built up before

I could drive home.

A sigmoidoscopy is similar to the colonoscopy only it's in the lower

part of the large intestines, not as far as the colonoscopy. That's

not pleasant at all! You can feel it and it's just terribly

humiliating!
