Guest guest
Yellow, Only one study when studied carefully seemed to indicate that some people who were taking these drugs had a slightly higher rate of heart attack and stroke. The reason the cox 2 inhibitors were being structinized is that the companies themselves are looking for new angles with which to make money. There is a suspicion and some evidence to suggest that cox 2 inhibitors are helpful in delaying colon cancer and in putting off the onset of Alzheimers. I will not treat these drugs any differently than I ever have......In the interest of our livers and our kidneys we should take only the amount of a drug necessary for us to function and continue in our activities of daily living. Some days we are going to need more than others, and this reflects our flare status. I do not support the removal of celebrex from the market because hundreds of thousands of people are helped by it. To remove this drug without an adequate well tolerated replacement, may drive some to suicide. It will certainly stop quite a few 35 year old soccer moms in their tracks ! What if the suicide rate for the withdrawal of the drug which helps so many, exceeds the blip of the number who had heart attacks. True suicide is not recoverable, while a small MI (heart attack) often is. Just as in any drug, the physician who knows you and your labs, and follows these, and YOU should be making the decisions right for you. Finding another drug may be right for some, but not for others. It might be a good time to ask your doctor what he wishes to do, but all drugs, particularly those which are effective, have potential negative effects.
