Guest guest
I was worried I was the only one who acquired RA this way.. I never has any sign of arthritis before that of any kind and it took my HMO 2 years to figure out it was RA... Best to all Chrisina > , Same thing with me. Guest guest
Welcome to the board. I can't help you from personal experience because I didn't get RA till age 74 and neither of my parents had it. However, another board I follow has a lot of members and I seem to remember some who have parents with the disease or something similar. http://www.arthritisinsight.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=13 I hope you find someone to help you. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: dimpledmorena@... Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Monday, December 13, 2004 8:32 PM Subject: Parents with Arthritis Hello All,My mother has had severe Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 26. If there is anyone who has a parent who suffers from this illness (or something similar), I would like to have a buddy who I could talk to. It just seems like people my age (I'm 22) with "healthy" parents can't empathasize...It's frustrating at times. Take care everyone.
Guest guest
I think that it is wonderful for a child to want to understand her mother's disease so she can help. I'm sorry I can't help there. I am 30 years old myself (with no kids) and have suffered with RA for over 10 years but I know from experience, that it means a lot to me that my family takes interest in my health. Thank you for taking interest. I know your Mom will appreciate it too. --- In Rheumatoid Arthritis , dimpledmorena@y... wrote: > > > Hello All, > My mother has had severe Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 26. > If there is anyone who has a parent who suffers from this illness > (or something similar), I would like to have a buddy who I could > talk to. Guest guest
, My daughters autoimmune diabetes began and was activated over about 48 hours with a viral illness and high fever. The physicians said the virus which did this to her was sackie B. My RA did not activate in this was so far as I know. I had aches and pains for a couple of years which I thought meant I'd overdone things. However,in Feb 2004, when my 18 year old son went into the hospital for 5 1/2 hours of abdominal surgery and wound up with a permanent ileostomy, I did his private duty nursing for the 2 weeks he was in the hospital. I remember in this time noticing that my shoes didn't fit well and that the joints in my feet hurt as I walked. They shouldn't have......I only had one patient, and it was emotionally tough but not physically difficult. I noticed also that my hands were swollen, and that things that were normally easy for me, gave me pain. I realize now that the extreme stress which I thought I was managing, caused an exacerbation of RA, which I did not really understand I had prior. I had my doctor draw an ANA, and it was through the roof, and then off I went to a rheumatologist. It is believed that I am early in the course of this illness. My doctors are also watching me for lupus, since I have the very transparent fair skin and superficial veins. He had the encephalitis form and almost died. The stress appparently brought out a latent RA. So I, too, basically just woke up one morning with this disease.
