Guest guest
> Do any of you have anemia with your fibroids? If so, > what was the treatment? I had anemia with my fibroids. The treatment was UAE. Problem solved. (Along with the problems of prolonged bleeding, cramping, etc. etc. etc. I took a multivitamin with iron until I could schedule the UAE.) Guest guest
Yes, I was found to be severely anemic about 9 months ago. I couldn't go up a flight of stairs without becoming winded. My gyn told me to take 3 ferrous sulfate tablets a day. I did that for 3 months and my iron count went back to normal. I was also put on bcp. They, at least, regulated my period so that I didn't have 21 day or less cycles (meaning more blood loss). nne

Have any of us had anemia? I'll bet more have than have not! I'd been taking a multi-vitamin with iron and 1 Slow Fe tablet daily for nearly a year to combat mild anemia (I think hemoglobin of 9.9 is pretty mild) and raised my hemoglobin to 11.2 within 3 months. Life went on, I had heavy bleeding for 3 weeks and my hemoglobin dropped to 7.7 (while still on my Slow FE regime). I took 3 Slow Fe 's daily for a month, along with Lupron to stop the bleeding. After one month at 3 Slow Fe's and no period, my hemoglobin was up to 12.2. I feel like a superstar! I hope you are able to combat anemia successfully. It really does suck all the life out of you. Guest guest
Hi, Yes, i did have anemia, 8, and I was feeling a lit of dizzy from time to time, as well as some missing of concentration in my ideas, or forgetting things all the time. At that time, I did not knew it, and after that I was told I have anemia. So I read a lot about it, and there were just symptoms. My gyn prescribed me iron+folic acid pills, which I am still taking since many months ago..almost a year to tell you exactly. I hope this will help you Marleen
Guest guest
Pain level varies widely among patients, but in my case I had moderate pain for a couple of days. It was not nearly as bad as I had been led to believe based on what I had read, yet my pain level actually was higher than the average based on patient reports. The fibroids shrink over a period of months, yet my symptoms ceased very soon after the procedure. I had it less than a month ago and already feel much better than beforehand. Check out the Yahoo embo list for more info. Ellen
Guest guest
You can chop the kale up and steam it with corn off the cob and red peppers. It makes a colorful autumn dish! Sprinkly ume plum vinegar on it for added zest! Also, you can chop up kale and throw it in your lentil soup Swiss chard is good steamed esp. with the aforementioned ume plum vinegar (look for it in health food stores.) Peace & healing

Guest guest
Yes, severely - treatment was a blood transfusion (six units - my hemoglobin was 3.6 in US terms), followed by Provera (I think) to stop the bleeding and Ovral bcp to keep it stopped. kukalaka wrote: > Do any of you have anemia with your fibroids? Guest guest
, I read that you had a myo previously. I am considering it (actually scheduled it but having second thoughts). Have you TTC since your myo? Have you heard that you are more fertile right after your myo? I have a myo scheduled for 11/19 and am considering changing it. We have never TTC and probably wouldn't start until next summer or early Fall. Does anyone think it is better to have a myo done right before you TTC (minus the 3 month recovery before being allowed to TTC)? Or does it not really matter? May be I am just looking for reasons to put it off Any information is appreciated. Thank You! Lori
Guest guest
TTC is the best right after the Myo - if you wait chances of fibroid growing back etc can happen - after my myo I got pregnant within 4 months and then a second child 14 months after that - now the fibroids are back again - they usually come back - and then you have to deal with them again - it took awhile for them to come back but they did. Guest guest
Shari, I took iron tabs for a few mos and they did a number on my stomach, too. At first they constipated me, but then they gave me diarrhea. I stopped for a week and then resumed and it was better. Now I take them during my period since I'm bleeding pretty heavy. I had my hemoglobin checked a few mos. ago and was okay, but will have it checked this week prior to my UAE.

At first they constipated me, but then they gave me diarrhea. I see a naturopathic nutritional doctor in addition to my OB. I take iron supplements that he recommends that do not cause any stomach or constipation problems. It is called Hematic Formula by Doctor's Research. I don't think it is carried in stores, so if you're interested you can call his office and maybe be able to have them ship it to you. 1- http://www.doctorsresearch.com/ It has 150% RDA of iron along with Folate and Vitamin B-12 and seems to be effective as I am progressively increasing my blood counts even with pretty heavy periods. Guest guest
All of the above. A day or so after my period I have nausea, am very tired, dizzy. I walk up one flight of step and think I'm not going to make it. I was scared the last time because I felt I was in a 90 year old body and I'm only 42. After a couple of days after my periods end then I start getting my energy back until the next period. jen
