Guest guest
: Thank you so much for writing. I'm originally from MN, graduated from Owatonna High School!I made the videos because I couldn't find any to watch and I really can't afford to waste almond flour on things that don't turn out right LOL and my 18 year son cannot LIVE without sandwichs! Mostly peanut butter and homemade jelly. Guess I'll have to do the jelly recipe next (smile). Thanks again for writing and do you have any good banana bread recipes? I have a ton of bananas to use but the last batch I made came out a little "eggy".Kay-lynnWhen you row another person across the river, you get there yourself..- Fortune cookieSubject: You Tube VideosTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, September 4, 2008, 11:56 AM I just watched the You Tube video on making SCD legal bread and it was great! Guest guest
Eileen. Yes I agree, you shouldn't do the bread until you've gone through the different stages, but Mike jr. started on it after that and had no problems. Might be the case again, that everyone is different. I also think (and this is just a guess), that being dx with UC at a young age like Mike that the damage might not be as severe as , say, someone who has had it for years and years.Rule of thumb is always be careful, you're right.Kay-lynnWhen you row another person across the river, you get there yourself..- Fortune cookieSubject: Re: You Tube VideosTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, September 4, 2008, 2:17 PM not to be a kill-joy but you can't make that for awhile - i would start with pecan flour when you do, it's easiest - I still make my bread from egg yolks, whites and pureed veges - shouldn't get into nut stuff for a bit sorry eileen 7 1/2 months scd celiac/crohns > > > I just watched the You Tube video on making SCD legal bread and it was > > great! Guest guest
Hi, You can substitute 1/2 cup pureed winter squash or applesauce for 2 eggs. I use the squash all the time in my baking as I do not tolerate eggs that well. I don't taste the squash at all. Guest guest
Kay-lynn, Thank-you for the encouragement I am a great cook so I know I can take the leap into scd, it just seems kind of overwhelming. I will start by buying the almond flour. Gail Gail: Congratulations on starting the diet. I am not a cook at all, let alone a baker, but we learn fast when we have too! I hope you have the book and please have her keep a very detailed food journal. I transfer my sons to a spreadsheet so I can gauge symptoms and any new foods. If you don't keep a journal, I promise, you will 'forget' something that snuck into her diet. hahah. Be patient with yourself, and stock up on some almond flour, you're gonna need it (smile).I get mine from www.nuttyguys.com for around $5.50/lb (in the store it's 9.99 a lb!). Guest guest
You can also get almond flour from Digestivewellness.com and Lucy's Kitchen and it's a lot finer than nutty guys. I tried them first, they are cheaper most of the time but it's not as fine as some of the others. > Kay-lynn, Thank-you for the encouragement I am a great cook so I know I can > take the leap into scd, it just seems kind of overwhelming. Guest guest
Ok, the few times I ordered it, it did have some skins in it meaning like it wasn't clean I guess? Not totally without skins to clarify. Sorry, love the company, nice prices. Just hard for me to tolerate then, maybe I'll try it again.
