BOTH companies use a calcium supplement that has starch in them. This makes their calcium fortified juices illegal.********************************So it's the juice with added calcium you want to stay away from.Kay-lynnWhen you row another person across the river, you get there yourself..- Fortune cookieSubject: Re:Could Welchs with Vitamin C have starch? To: BTVC-SCD Date: Sunday, September 7, 2008, 9:31 AM I don't know whether juices with vitamins added use other additives that might cause problems, but it wouldn't surprise me. If you've noticed a reaction, and suspect this bottle of Welch's grape juice, I'd stop using it. It could be a hidden additive, or something about grapes, that is giving you difficulties. I would also assume that the manufacturers have changed the recipe and/or ingredients since Elaine first checked into the particular type of Welch's grape juice. I wouldn't trust any ready-made juices unless they were not from concentrate, and even then I suspect there will be hidden additives that will likely give me problems. Before I started SCD I reacted badly to any juices that contained extra vitamins and minerals. This is why I make my own juices, so I can control every ingredient. Doesn't take that much time, and I find it less stressful. I am in total agreement with Marilyn's ethic: "make it yourself, make it yourself, make it yourself" [grin]. I've been doing this since my 2nd month on SCD, and I'll continue doing so, even though I officially have my functional digestive symptoms under control. Kim M. SCD 5 years >>>>>>>>>>>>>> I have recently become concerned about this Welchs Grape juice with Vit C because it might be causing me symptoms. Has anyone checked to see if they add the Vitamin C in any kind of a starch base? I have seen that to be the case with other added vitamins in juices.Danny KovacsSan Diego
