I don't think your question is odd at all. After 4 days on the SCD diet I had my first normal bowl movement in 30 years! I was estatic. But the next day I noticed some fullness in my lower abdomen and didn't know what it was, eventually I figured out that that must be what normal people feel when they have to move their bowls. I had never experienced the feeling of having a full bowel and only knew the urgent need to go right now. Up until that point bowel movements were simply something that happened on their own in their own time repeatedly all day long and totally out of my control. Now it's a matter of my deciding every morning that it's going to happen and sure enough within a week I had the system down. How cool is that to decide when you want to use the

toilet? My life is back! Thank you Elaine!!!

Question for those who have had success

Hi,I am wondering how people coped once their bowel movements returned tonormal (or somewhere near normal). For the last 5 years I have gone tothe toilet when my bowels told me to so I was wondering if it takessome adjustment when you gain back control. Odd question I know but Ihave not seen it covered it any books or information that I have readabout scd and I can't help wondering what happens at that point.Personally I have been on the diet for around 4 months now. Had my upsand downs and I think I have just got over my first die off and now amstarting to see improvements. Just trying nut butters at the moment soam getting pretty close to actually being able to bake stuff! I reallybelieve this diet is going to give me my life back. Thanks,MikeSCD 4 monthsUC 6 years

Mike,

Excellent question. The short answer is you have to relearn you body.

Before the SCD, anytime I felt anything in my lower regions, I headed

for the bathroom. I didn't leave the house without first sitting on

the toilet to give myself a chance to, um, unload. And I was mostly

afraid to break wind without being on the toilet.

After improving on the SCD the rumblings in my lower regions just mean

that I'll have to visit the bathroom sometime in the next few hours -

or not. No more rush.

I guess it was a bit of a mind game I don't need to play anymore.

Funny enough, one on the thoughts that went through my mind as the

diarrhea ceased was, " oooh yuck! now I'm carrying poop around with me

all day just like a regular person. " It's a small price, I guess.

Cheers,

Stocker
