Guest guest
Tracey, I'm afraid you've only caught the barest gist of this. No one is going to take over your computer or your data. No one is going to " do away " with your computer. The fact is, many advanced computer users work on a variety of machines. Google has worked toward applications that would allow you to access certain files no matter where you are. This is a godsend for people who travel a lot or who use multiple machines. Google Docs, for example, allows you to upload Word or PDF files and access them from anywhere (you can upload Excel files but they are not full featured). You access them via a login and a password. You choose to do this -- no one makes you do it. This is generally NOT for personal files or sensitive information. Those would still be accessed through secure means (through your bank's web site for example). In this way, you are working from a " cloud " and you are not tethered to your desktop for certain things that you need. But in short, nobody is " taking " your information and nobody is going to be able to access it whenever they want. B.
