What I dislike is that there are no long-term double blind studies

demonstrating the safety and effectiveness of this technique in humans,

yet the FDA goes ahead and approves it (or probably will shortly),

instead of working with the USDA to develop sustainable farming practices

which won't require such tricks. But Big Business asked for it.

Then they turn around and tell SCDers that there are no long-term double

blind studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of SCD so they can't

approve it or recommend it. After all, we are not a corporation with lots

of money.

But - the idea of subsistence workers in second or third world countries irradiating my produce is pretty scary. Mara

Precisely -- when you consider that the spread of the germs probably

derived from lack of care in processing in the first place. My husband is

eligible to retire in a few years. Scary to think we might have to buy

our retirement home's lot with a view towards raising our own vegetables

and fruits.

Oh, we'll be in great shape, then -- I'm a good cook, but I have a black

thumb that runs all the way to my shoulder blade! I've even killed AIR

FERNS!

LOL! Guess we won't have to worry about overweight then!

At present, our yard doesn't have crab grass. Of course, since it's kind

of a mixed species lawn, with none of this religiously trimmed Bermuda or

St. Augustine or whatever, I suppose some might sneak in and I'd never

notice.

Haven't managed to kill the thistles yet, much to the dismay of the

dachshunds who have to have them combed out of their lovely silky red

fur.

This subject infuriates me. I could hop up on my soap box and cuss a green streak that would make a sailor blush. It ticks me off that they are so careless with the food handling, processing, etc as to allow contamination. And it ticks me off even more that instead of going to the source of the problem, our stupid government wants to stick a band-aid on it by irradiating our produce.

After getting food poisoning twice from produce, I decided to heck with them. I planted a garden and I also plan to plant some fruit trees as soon as it's time. The only produce we eat until my garden starts producing is cooked. If we do eat raw veggies or fruit, they are from the farmer's market. I love going to the farmer's market and would love to be able to buy all my food there but it is expensive so my only other alternative for safe food is to grow my own.

Hi Kim H,

I just wanted to say that I think you are awesome the way you care for

! You have such a good heart :)

I know this is a horrible disease to cope with (being sick myself) I

just have no idea why my Husband puts up with it and I don't think

spouses get enough credit.. And you, all the work you do to keep him

healthy! In Hebrew we say " Kol HaKavod " which is like " Bravo " !

You're very sweet. Thanks.I'm sure he puts up with it because you're a good person and he loves you :-)I wouldn't do all that I do for just anybody. is a wonderful person and he deserves to have a good life free from pain, hospitals and drugs. I'm just grateful that we found the diet and decided to give it a try. No telling where we'd be now if we hadn't.Best wishes,Kim Hi Kim H,
