I really don't understand why the govt can't get their s$#t together

and fix the levees properly.. Why do all of you have to live like

this? You'd think it's a 3rd world country.

I hope all of you stay safe and Gustav does no harm...

Marilyn,

How do you back your stuff up on the computer?

Ever consider remote back up as an option besides maybe an extra HD?

That's what I do.

Some people that don't want to pay a service so they use gmail as a

back-up too.. (I use gmail)

Just a thought.

Nah..

It's your home, your roots, your history..

If the Dutch have proper dam/levee technology there is no reason why

we shouldn't!

Hurricanes are going to be a problem on many coasts. Just last year I

got a map from OEM for flood zones in NYC if a level 3 or above hit us

(which is expected as we are do according to forcasted reports) I am

a mere " projected " block away from flooding. This is a huge issue in

the States and I don't just see tens of millions of people moving from

the Gulf. It is the govt's job to do something useful with those tax

dollars instead of just feeding Haliburton.

Wow! You made me cry. As all good writers do, you drew me in. I was there with you worrying about your parents, your friends, your library and mementos from 30 years of marriage. I'm at work and had to quit reading numerous times, pull my self together and continue on. Luckily, no one caught me sitting here crying. Plus, it's hard to read through tears.

Even the thread leading up to and after the storm made me cry. It was like watching a movie you'd seen before, you know the outcome but you still scream at the TV telling the characters how to avoid disaster. You had written that y'all weren't leaving and I'm screaming in my head...NO!! LEAVE, GET OUT, RUN!!! And seeing all your friends so scared and concerned for your safety, begging you to leave. You can feel their fear for your safety and the urgency of the situation. Very emotional.....

I don't really know how to navigate that site so if you posted the ending (or the next part) somewhere, I didn't see it. I'd love to read it if it's been written.
