Guest guest
Hi folks, I was taking Kirkman Hypoallergenic Folic Acid with Vitamin B12 capsules, with only plant cellulose as the other ingredient, which is legal. When I ordered another bottle, the ingredients listed were microcrystalline cellulose, Di-Calcium Phosphate, Cyanocobalamin, Folic Acid, Plant cellulose. I called them and they told me that this was due to new FDA regulations on supplements stating that all ingredients from all suppliers along the chain must be listed starting jan. 09(which is a good thing for us!) But now, I do not if these extra ingredients are legal. They are the same exact capsules as before, but Kirkman was not required to list these other ingredients because it was from the original manufacturer, and Kirkman was the second manufacturer. Any thoughts? Thanks! Sheena UC - 8 yrs SCD - 1 yrWant to do more with Windows Live? Learn “10 hidden secrets” from . Learn Now

Sheena, Your situation is one every SCDer faces when they purchase something made by someone else. So far as I know, Dicalcium phosphate is an inorganic compound, and should be legal. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_hydrogen_phosphate Micro-crystalline cellulose is also SCD legal. So your product is still legal -- and if you have been doing okay with it, I would continue with it. Not that we can make our own vitamin supplements, but the dilemma you are facing is the basis of the Make Your Own, Make Your Own, Make Your Own mantra which experienced SCDers always chant whenever anyone asks about a commercial product being legal. Unless manufacturers are REQUIRED to list everything along the line, they do not, unless they added it themselves. That's why things like canned vegetables, canned tomato products (with the exception of tomato juice), and many other items are not SCD-legal. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
Thanks Marilyn! I agree, I have been doing fine, and it seems that it is legal, so I will stick with it! Thanks for your advice and I truly hope you and your family are doing ok over there in the hurricane aftermath. Guest guest
Sheena I concur with Marilyn's assessment of the supplement. The ingredients are all SCD-legal, so keep taking it if your body is tolerating it and you're feeling positive results. I didn't realize there was a change in labelling laws. That's a good thing for us. Kim M. SCD 5 years >>>>>>>>>> I was taking Kirkman Hypoallergenic Folic Acid with Vitamin B12 capsules, with only plant cellulose as the other ingredient, which is legal.
