Tell them to buy you Almondie nut butter. It is blanched almond butter from Israel that they sell here at digestive wellness. I am not saying Israel >doesn't have good salt it's just that I would rather use what I am >used to as opposed to trying to read labels and ingredients for hours >on end. Plus Israeli labeling laws are pathetic comparing to the >States. Also, like bringing my own green tea. They make their own >mint tea from Nana leaves from their garden. I don't even know if >Nana is legal?? Why not? It's mint. Of course it is legal. Mara

I am going to have to figure out the other names of the herbs in their garden too. Like they say " Louisa " is Hebrew- it has a lemony flavor. Do you know what I am talking about? Guest guest
-Hi Jodi, I don't have much advice for you, since I haven't been in Israel since my dd went on SCD, but I do have a lot of empathy for the difficulties of traveling and having to deal with non-kosher kitchens.... I started another Yahoo group called KosherSCD to address the special issues facing those of us who keep kosher while doing SCD. It's still a small group, but feel free to join us as we try to hash out stringencies upon stringencies Ellen in Boston 10 y/o dd scd sicne 5/06 for Crohn's and doing great almost off all meds!!!!!!! I believe you might mean lemon balm - Too bad I never had a garden when I lived there - I'd have learned that vocabulary. So, do you mean instead of Louisa? balm Anyway, all herbs are fine to eat as far as I know. Guest guest
Mara, > So, do you mean instead of Louisa? They grow as well as Louisa. I am going to have to get the various names of the tea herbs they grow in Hebrew. I wish I had my own garden here. Although my friend does on her roof and certain things attract roof rats!! Like tomatoes! Have you seen those light indoor garden things? I wonder if it is healthy... http://www.officialaerogarden.com/default.aspx?adid=ggl1002.1 & gclid=CKHIpq37q5UC\ FQOeFQodTB19SA Jodi SCD 11 months Crohn's/Colitis

The tomatoes - at ripening peak now - are gorgeous. Just started a huge juicy, smooth purple cherokee one today. Mara
Guest guest
I don't have one myself but I belong to an organic, local foods yahoo group and some people on there have them and they all like them. There are some people that have multiple ones. Another option for those who don't have a lot of space or the energy/resources to plant a garden due to the tilling, etc. is planting a garden in hay bales. That's what I did. My mom saw it online somewhere and we decided to try it. The plants are growing very well and looking good. Time will tell how on production but so far, so good. It is inexpensive to do as well. I found some hay bales on craig's list that were extremely cheap. They were just trying to get them out of the way to make room for the new ones. It's also good for people with back problems because you don't have to bend over as much. There are instructions on how to do it all over the 'net. If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me. I'm obviously no expert but I'll do my best to help. Take care, Kim H. Has anyone ever tried one of these? I sure have thought about it to grow herbs, tomatoes and such.
