Well, when I finally got into see the doctor herself, she was very nice. She's ordered a sleep study, because she says that improper sleep patterns can be related to chronic pain, obesity, diabetes, heart issues and a raft of other things. I looked at her and said, somewhat dryly, " Uh, y'know, chronic pain can cause improper sleep patterns.... " which she acknowledged was true. (Amazing... other docs haven't been willing to concede that much!) So on September 11 (I do hope that's not significant), I go in at 7:30 PM to be wired for sound and light. Then, trailing wires and with all these sensors stuck all over me, they expect me to climb into a strange bed, in a strange room, and sleep. While they film me sleeping, mind you.... Then we'll sort out what's what. In the meantime, she's renewed the pain meds which I fortunately only need at night. I am able to control things the rest of the time with supplements. My hope is that the study will turn up whatever and I can get off the pain meds, because they significantly affect my gut. (NSAIDs, don'tcha know... and not even compounded, because every other doc I talked to about this said I had to see the pain doctor for special meds.) <sigh> I avoided doctors for most of 32 years. I think they're getting their revenge now, or something. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Why can't you get a compounded prescription? Is this normal to experience this type of pain? What kind of supplements do you take for this kind of pain? This is very interesting to me! > <sigh> I avoided doctors for most of 32 years. I > think they're getting their revenge now, or something. Nah- comparing to the rest of the population and the type of surgery you had I think you're doing pretty well. Hard to get back into patient mode after feeling good on SCD and understanding just how backwards conventional medicine can be.. Drives me up the wall how they just seem so incapable of connecting the dots. Jodi SCD 11 months Crohn's/Colitis
