Guest guest
My daughter takes calcium. We found legal calcium at the GNC vitamin store. If you need the specific brand name, let me know. Guest guest
I take a bone builder calcium (includes other minerals, trace minerals), and get Iodine (and other trace minerals)from red or Grey sea salt I use at the table. If I do not take these, I really feel it in my joints and bones.(Most of my crohn's symptoms are arthritic in nature.
Guest guest
I use a supplement that's supposed to be good for osteoporosis called +CAL+ from Pure Encapsulations. It contains calcium, vitamin D, and several trace minerals (it also contains a small amount of horsetail extract which may not be SCD-legal?) Guest guest
How do you know your sea salt contains a significant amount of Iodine? I'm thinking of going back to regular iodized salt because I read somewhere that sea salt does not necessarily have enough iodine. Do you use a specific kind? Guest guest
I had to look up horsetail. Not only is it used in beauty products for antiaging stuff, it's a European herb that looks like asparagus and "The Ancient Greeks used horsetail in the treatment of wounds and the Romans used it as a vegetable, an animal feed and a medicine. Culpeper said it was 'very powerful to stop bleeding, either inward or outward, and eases the swelling, heat, and inflammation of the fundamental, or privy parts, in men and women.' The Chinese use E.hiemale, or mu zei, to cool fevers and as a remedy for eye inflammations such as conjunctivitis and corneal disorders, dysentery, flu, swellings and hemorrhoids." Guest guest
thought I read that too - so I do idoz salt at lunch, sea salt at dinner but been reading of remarkable results of iodine pills??? eileen > > > > I take a bone builder calcium (includes other minerals, trace > > minerals), and get Iodine (and other trace minerals)from red or Grey > > sea salt I use at the table. Guest guest
Best to be tested for iodine levels as idoine pills can mess up thyroid function etc. Jodi SCD 12 months Crohn's/Colitis > > thought I read that too - so I do idoz salt at lunch, sea salt at > dinner but been reading of remarkable results of iodine pills??? > eileen >
Guest guest
Just a note of warning. Start slowly with calcium supplements, or mineral supplements. I have a bad reaction to calcium and any form mineral supplements containing more than one ingredient. In my case, my joints seize up (all of them are involved, but the worst is along my spine and hips) and I suffer severe and debilitating pain when I take a calcium supplement of any kind. And a supplement containing more than one mineral affects me the same way, plus gives me hives and severe nausea, sometimes overwhelming fatigue. Supplements that are supposed to help with joint flexibility and/or arthritis have the opposite effect with me and make things very bad for me for a few days. Of course that's just me. But I wanted to mention this so you might go slowly until you know how your body handles things. Also, be cautious with iodine. Our bodies need some to improve thyroid function, but there's a fine line between enough and too much, and you don't want to cause damage. Kim M. Guest guest
Debbie, For economy and assurance on the iodine, I usually mix 3 parta Hain Iodionized salt 3parts to 1 part celtic grey or 1 part redmond's red sea salt.
