Yogurt's allowed. Steak is allowed, but cooking it on the grill might not

be the best. Or... did you mean on a charcoal grill? Or a Foreman type

grill? Or broiled? or baked?

Hey there,I have a similar question about the intro diet - which I'm just re-starting after realizing I made some mistakes in the intro last time. 1. I'm confused about honey. The books says avoid it at the start, but it's in the cheesecake that is recommended. Do people generally eat the cheesecake at the start even though it has honey?2. Also, it says eggs should be avoided if D is severe or 'brisk'. Any thoughts on how bad it needs to be to be considered 'severe'?thanks, Crohn's: Since July 2005SCD: Since Sept 2008Meds: Nothing yet Re: re-starting intro AGAIN

,

I honestly can't help you on the eggs and diarrhea business, because soft

boiled eggs were one of the few foods I could tolerate at the beginning

of the diet without getting the runs. (And believe me, having the runs

when you're recovering from emergency gall bladder surgery is NOT an

entertainment I would wish on anyone.)

I believe that what Elaine intended was that people should avoid all the

heavily sweetened desserts and nut flour goodies that so many of us have

a tendency to head for first thing as we attempt to replace our processed

carbohydrate fixes. The amount of honey in the cheese cake generally does

not trouble most people -- but you could subsitute a really ripe banana

for the honey in the cheese cake and sweeten it that way.

In the intro section of the book, it says to reduce by quite a bit the amount of

honey you put in the product. Maybe use 1/4-1/3 the amount.

It's a personal judgement call - the difference between having some D or a litte

D - to severe D. For me, there's a big difference between the two and how I

feel. In the latter case, it's more like everything is just going straight

through you. So, if you are closer to that part of the spectrum, than avoid

them.
