Guest guest
I love peppermint or spearmint tea with a little honey. I also use catnip tea when I want to relax from a stressful day also with a little honey. The peppermint tea with a little honey (good teaspoon full) is so yummy. It takes like I'm drinking a peppermint. I have been drinking peppermint and catnip tea since I started SCD and neither have caused me any problems. I buy very good quality organic whole young leaves.I would like to have a tea to drink at night especially now since theweather is getting chilly.Fresh mint makes me sick. Ginger in water makes me sick too.I thought maybe dry mint leaves might be ok? But, I keep seeing wholemint leaves with added lavender.Anyone have a yummy super legal suggestion? Thanks,JodiSCD 12 monthsCrohn's/Colitis
Guest guest
My nutritional consultant insists that China black tea will help you sleep because of its theanine content which counteracts the caffeine and promotes relaxation. She recommends Keemun tea or any black tea from China, like Earl Grey. Not sure if it works, but I don't think it's kept me up. Is Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea legal? The label says chamomile, spearmint, West Indian lemongrass, tilia flowers, blackberry leaves, orange blossoms, hawthorn berries, rosebuds. Guest guest
Black tea is legal. Black tea is just plain ole tea. I'm not sure about Earl Grey. I googled it and Wikipedia says that it is black tea with oil of bergamot added. It also says that these days the name Earl Grey is being applied to all sorts of teas so I really couldn't say. Here is the link so whoever is interested can read more,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Grey_teaTake care,Kim H.husband, , CD 1999SCD 2002 Hi Debbie, I don't know if black tea or Earl Grey are legal. Guest guest
Jodi I get good quality black teas from Harney & Sons. Black teas are SCD- legal, as long as you make it weak. Although I generally have only one cup a day, in the morning, I do have a cup at night when I'm feeling cold. My personal favorite is Darjeeling, but there are plenty of options in black teas. I have bought teas from Harney & Sons for 10 years or so, and recommend them highly. They are based in Connecticut, but may have a NYC retail location. Their website is very informative. http://www.harney.com/ Kim M. SCD 5 years > > I enjoy 2 delicious (sometimes 3- I know not good) cups of green tea > every day.
