hi ryan,

my son was diagnosed with mild to moderate crohn's when he was about

11. he's now 12 and a half and is in complete remission using only

scd. we did follow the diet very strictly except for that we used

almond flour and yogurt earlier on than recommended. he's been in

remission (no symptoms at all, even blood tests are normal) for over a

year now.

it does work, his dr. said he had seen it work before.

best of luck,

adam

Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you have managed to use SCD only to get

Crohn's into remission? I have had Crohn's for 3 years and was recently diagnosed. The doctor

says it is a moderate case of Crohn's. I'd like to try to heal my gut

with SCD alone, rather than resorting to drugs (if possible). The

doctor says it's not possible but he hasn't hear of SCD. If would be

great to hear from anyone who managed to get Crohn's into remission

without using drugs or surgery.

Thanks!

well I believe I have - 2 docs told me i had celiac and crohns last

year- been on scd 9 months now and endo/colonoscopy showed nothing 2

weeks ago- I was given 3 months of entecort in the beginning (did

nothing for me) and i'm not a " typical " crohns person no D etc and

still have syptoms here/there up/down but improved yes and improved

colonoscopy that quick - I think your doc should be impressed with scd

for that alone - give it a try without meds and see what happens

good luck

I'm fortunate enough to match that profile. I tried Pentasa a long

time ago and it made me sicker than the Crohn's so I hadn't been

taking any meds for a long time when I started the SCD. In 2-1/2 years

I was in remission. The last time I had to have meds was for a

stress-induced flare right before I started the SCD.

I had CD for 1 year before it was diagnosed. After about 2 months on

drugs to try and stop the symptoms, nothing was working. They wanted

to put me on immune suppressing drugs, when I found out about the

diet. Within 2 weeks I was already seeing a difference. It has now

been 1.5 years and the CD is in remission as far as I can tell. I

would try the diet before doing any more drugs.

My dd was incredibly sick when dx'ed w. Crohn's. We started scd right away along w. tons of meds. Thanfully, after two years w. meds and the diet, she is now med-free and only on scd. I know that's not exactly what you wanted to hear, but, trust me, from where she came from, it's a miracle she's med-free.

Good luck.

Ellen,

When and how did you decide it was the right time to try scd without

meds? Did it cause any initial problems?

Thanks,

Mike

  • 2 weeks later...

Just to say that I had a terrible time in 2006 when CD was diagnosed. One month later I went on SCD and have never had a relapse. I am not on meds.
