Guest guest
I have been symptom free for about a year and would like to try going back to a gluten free diet. I am so impressed with the SCD Diet - the idea of eating chemicals and preservatives frightens me though. I plan to keep the yogurt as a daily item and keep lactose free as well. My brain is so clear and the pain is a thing of the past- I'm actually afraid to expand the diet. I was going to add one food, wait a day and eat it again and see if there are any symptoms. Then add another food after a week. Is there any specific procedure or food type to start with? I could not find anything spelled out in BTVC. Thanks, nne CD diagnosed 2003 Symptomatic 35 years. Guest guest
check out pecanbread.com they have a gradual introduction of foods chart. it was pretty right on for my body but it doesn't work for everyone. definately take it slow like you plan on it. you might find that you tolerate foods well at first. if you do, don't try to rush it. i think a lot of people mess up by rushing. good luck misty kimble cd - no meds scd - 8 months Subject: re: Any suggestions on going back to Gluten freeTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, September 25, 2008, 8:19 PM I was going to add one food, wait a day and eat it again and see if there are any symptoms. I need to ask her specifics. I do know there have been one or two others who have been able to add things like spelt flour back in. I would be extremely careful of most grains and any gums or artificial junk, like sugar alcohols which are so often found in processed gluten-free food. I would also be extremely careful that you don't backslide and become careless about what you are eating. Guest guest
When I added to my SCD diet, I only tried new foods one at a time, 7-10 days apart, I read in an interview (possibly Mrs. Gottschall) that some reactions can actually be this slow in coming. This is slow, but I had very few reactions. (Margie)
