Guest guest
You know I am just so grateful to have this group for health advice. I really don't trust health care professionals these days. This group online is so knowledgeable and you can't beat Marilyns advice - that I am not asking anyone but this group anymore. This is one bunch of savy people. I guess this group know that when you walk thru the darkness of illness you comeout with the lightness of knowledge. Thanks everyone ! The same is true of most everyone else on this list. (At least, no one has yet sent me a scan of their medical license.) Believe me, I understand being frustrated with Western health care professionals. The thing you have to remember is that they aren't generally trained to handle chronic disorders. Not their fault: it's what they were taught. But you also have to remember that when it comes to emergency situations, like my Mom's congestive heart failure attack, or the Flare from H-ll which doesn't want to quit, that we are incredibly fortunate to have excellent medical care. I also have to look, for instance, at the really top mark gynecologist I found (off my insurance's website, of all things!) who diagnosed my cancer, and who referred me to a really incredible oncologist. That oncologist cooperated fully with me in staying 100% SCD before, during, and after my surgery. Yes, I get really frustrated, too, with the people who don't acknowledge that diet plays a role in health. <g> I try to tamp it down, though, 'cause getting frustrated sure doesn't improve MY health any. I will try to educate them if I think they might be receptive, though.... — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Marilyn is absolutely right about being careful when dispensing advice. Sometimes my enthusiasm for the diet needs to be tempered – we all need to be sensible . We need our Doctors – my husband would be dead from a heart attack and would of left me with 3 young kids if it weren’t for some keen detective work on his Doctors part. I think we just need assume more responsibility about being informed of the different opinions in our own care. I am grateful to Google as well and the internet for being a source of information. Thanks.
