Guest guest
I wonder if any one else has experienced this. During the four months that I have now been on the diet I have had a couple of instances when my bowel symptoms would suddenly deteriorate slightly for seemingly no reason (slightly annoying as I am trying to slowly reintroduce new foods) and then not long afterwards I would started to see the symptoms for a cold/flu like illness. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. It could of course be a coincidence and actually be a reaction to particular foods but I thought i'd throw it out to the group. Cold/flu symptoms are die off symptoms. http://www.pecanbread.com/new/begindiet1.htmlList of possible die off temporary symptomsMost children will not have these symptoms. Do not take it during meal times.Slowing down the introduction of enzymes (some call this the "low and slow" method.Going slower in the introduction of the SCD probiotics and yogurt. You should wait before introducing these if you have a strong die off symptoms (www.pecanbread.com has ideas on introducing this yogurt)Following the directions in Chapter 9 and 10 in the introductions of foods. .Directions for doing the Epsom Salt baths:Mara
Guest guest
Mike The frequent ups and downs, or rather frequent symptom flares even when you haven't changed your foods and know you aren't getting any hidden additives or illegals, may be part of healing. Quite often the body experiences symptoms just before a healing phase. A good explanation of this process is known as "Hering's law of cure." There's a number of websites that discuss this. The good thing is that the frequency of these healing phases lessen the longer you're on SCD. At 4 months you're on track for one of these healing phases. There might be another one around 9 months and again at 12 to 18 months. Depending on your disease, you might be done at that point, or go through a few more phases. Just stick to the softest and easiest foods your body can tolerate during this time, and give it a few days of rest and recovery. Kim M. Guest guest
i use the bowels as an indicator - mine are off right now, 1 loose each a.m. and weren't before however I'm starting to feel better but I know everything is not right due to that plus my finger sore and gum sores are at it again - so the bowels were the last thing to show me that just there is inflammtion in there still - so I do use them - also I'll get gassy or loose from foods that bug me - so yes if I /you feel better that's key but I do think you should use them as a sign hang in eileen 8 months scd celiac/crohns -- In BTVC-SCD , debra von alst wrote: > > > I have only been on this diet for about the same time as you. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't have some sort of reaction. I never feel 100%. However I feel 10 times better than I did and haven't been on any meds for 7 months. I personally don't believe your bowels can be the perfect indicator of how a food reacts to you. I tend to follow more of how I feel. Even normal people with no disease have diarehea. Some even on a daily basis. Other's don't go for 5 days straight and are concidered normal. One day a food might be fine, the next not so great. Fruit doesn't sit well with me but I eat it everyday because I know the nutritional benefits have healing properties. Plus you need the sugar in your diet. Stress can also cause changes and make things out of wack. > > Sounds like overall you feel better. Me too! It's not a cure. You will have good days and not so good. I find if I keep that in mind and not wig on the symptoms and think I'm getting sick again, I am fine and it passes. > > > > > > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>> > I wonder if any one else has experienced this.
