Guest guest
I apologize if this seems a little blunt, but I do not know a better way to describe my symptoms. Yeast infections seems to have increased for me. I use boric acid suppositories to balance the ph, but I am wondering if I should stop all obvious sugar for a spell and see if that helps. I have been on SCD for 2 1/2 months. Any other suggestions?
Guest guest
People with digestive disorders also have to contend with higher-than- usual yeast/candida levels. Depending on our yeast-related symptoms, it helps to adjust your food choices for a while to move SCD closer to a yeast elimination " diet " especially during the first year or two on SCD when you're also working to restore your gut ecology. There's some information on candida/yeast and SCD in the group files. I dealt with a systemic candida overgrowth when I started SCD, and because my symptoms were bothersome, I adjusted my food choices to follow a drastic yeast elimination " diet. " I stayed on SCD, but I also cut back or stop eating completely those legal foods that were also yeast trigger foods. The basic yeast triggers are: starches, sugars, molds, fermented. In SCD terms this would be high-carb veggies and legumes; fruits, honey; cheese and mushrooms and nuts; and vinegar and wine. For example, I didn't stop eating fruit completely, but chose the least-sweet varieties of apples when making applesauce and didn't have it more than once every other day. If I had juice, I diluted it significantly, and again, didn't have it more than every other day. I did stop eating dried fruits, even in muffins, and didn't eat honey. I can give you some other examples if you like, just let me know. Kim M. SCD 5 years > > I apologize if this seems a little blunt, but I do not know a better > way to describe my symptoms.
