Guest guest
I have moderate, active UC despite 55mg of prednisone daily. I've been following the SCD for about 2 weeks, and saw significant improvements - felt better, and went from frequent small amounts of blood in BM's to none at all - very encouraging! I've had my first setback, however, and am looking to check my logic on what may have caused it.. I'm following the stages from www.pecandbread.com, and introducing foods over a 3-day period - small portion day 1, bit more day 2, full portion day 3, then on to a new food day 4 assuming tolerance. So green beans came in last Friday, and my BM habits changed immediately - I chalked it up to differences in routine on Saturday (2 sets of parents visiting), but went from 3-4 daily, to 2 on Sat, 7 on Sun, 5-6 since, and now blood is showing up again. The trouble is, I also started using coconut oil on Saturday, so I'm afraid that might be a factor. (I know - patience is key, and I should be doing one thing at a time!) My plan is to cut out the green beans, switch back to olive oil and see what happens, then revisit them both later on. Does that make sense, and is that generally how this is supposed to work? I read on the GAPS site that you can do a tolerance test by daubing a food on your wrist, letting it dry, sleeping on it, and observing whether there is a reaction in the morning. Do folks do this, and does it seem to work? Thanks in advance, and sorry if I was too graphic! -Sal UC since May-2007 SCD since Oct-2008 (anxiously awaiting the yogurt maker!) Trying to get off prednisone.

Yes, it does, and you have correctly analyzed what may have gone wrong! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
