Guest guest
I found the answer to they yoghurt question, the company sent this response: The cultures used in TOTAL Greek Yoghurt are Lactobacillus Bulgaricus and Streptococcus Thermophilus at a concentration of 106-109 per gram of yoghurt. These cultures stay live and active until the USE BY date of the product. Does anyone know which live cultures are used in Fage Total Greek Yoghurt? Their website is www.totalgreekyoghu rt.com but I couldn't find the live cultures that they use. I would like to use it as starter if it's legal. Thanks. Ann

I use Fage, but I actually break open the acidophillus supplement capsules and add them to the Fage when I'm starting my yogurt - I use about 8 capsules for a gallon of milk. I believe that I have had more benefit ingesting the acidophillus this way instead of just taking the capsules - but that's only my experience. Acidophillus is not a requirement for SCD but many have found it to be a helpful probiotic to include. I've been using Fage as my primary starter because the packaged starter makes the yogurt just waaaaayyyy too tart for my taste, and I don't have a store nearby that sells the whole-fat plain Dannon yogurt. Thanks for your response Kathy, I take acidolphillis every day in addition to the yogurt. I have the first batch of Fage fermenting, so maybe I'll add it to the next batch.
