Guest guest
I have been diagnosed as having RA for about 3years now. I have been on methotrexate for about 2 years and am currently on 15mg weekly. I recently read 'The new arthritis breakthrough' and was all fired up to persuade my Rheumatologist to let me try this, then I went to see a naturopath regarding my diet. He thinks I should avoid all drugs of any kind and stick with the diet and try to eventually cut down on my methotrex and anti-inflammatories. I am now totally confused as to what to do. I certainly want to cut down on the methotrex. and don't want to start introducing other toxic drugs, yet steadily my RA is getting worse and more painful. HELP. All advice gratefully recieved. (PS this is Britain where anti-biotic therapy is not widely used for treating RA, if even heard of in some places, and I'm not sure how my rheumatologist will react if make such a request to try out the treatment) Thanks Carol
Guest guest
Hi I have a 9 1/2 month old who has mild plagio and tort with facial assemtries- I have been through alot to get his letter of medical necessity but I feel that I am his advocate and It my job to do whatever I can to better him even if I don't get 100% correction at least I can say I did all I could. Go with your heart and instincts. Feel free to email me with any questions. He just had his casting so now were waiting for his DocBand to come in. She is just over 9 months old. I have taken her to see a physical therapist for the tort since she was 5 months old. I took her to Cranial Tech a few weeks ago, and they measured her cranial vault at 10 mm assymetry, and her facial assymetry is 3 mm. Her new physical therapist (we just moved to the Phoenix area two months ago) also took measurements about 2 weeks ago and came up with a different number for the cranial vault assymetry... 5 mm. I called CT to ask why there is a discrepancy, and they said that perhaps the tools used were different, and that perhaps the PT measured a different area than they did (??). I am a little conserned also because the person at Cranial Tech that did the measurement was the very young guy (looked to be 20) who also took her photos... not a physical or occupational therapist.Anyway, I have heard from many people online as well as from a neurogist at Phoenix Childrens Hospital that Cranial Tech is very good at what they do, and the PT there seemed very professional... So.....I am trying to decide whether or not to have my daughter fitted for a doc band. My husband and I have been going back and forth about it for a long while. We don't want to wait too much longer. We actually have an appointment for next week to do the casting. As I mentioned, her plagio is mild.... people generally do not notice it (even Grandmas ). Her forehead does boss out on the right, though, and the right cheek seems fuller than the left. I don't think she would be teased at school or anything, I just worry that when she notices (you know how you notice things about yourself that others don't notice) one day it will make her feel badly. Is there anyone out there who has an older baby with mild plagio that is thinking of doing a doc band, or is there anyone who has gone through with it under these circumstances (and were you happy with the result)? It feels good to type this out even if noone notices or responds. If you have read this whole thing, bless your heart!

Guest guest
Hi Louise, Thank you for reading and responding to my long-winded post! I think that we are going to go ahead with the appointment at CT. I guess that it is a sign that I feel better having made the appointment.... I feel like we are actually doing something about the situation instead of just fretting about it. My best wishes to you and your little boy. - > Hi > I have a 9 1/2 month old who has mild plagio and tort with facial assemtries- I have been through alot to get his letter of medical necessity but I feel that I am his advocate and It my job to do whatever I can to better him even if I don't get 100% correction at least I can say I did all I could. Guest guest
You can try with the Starband, my son is actually wearing one of those, he is 6 months old and he got it a week ago. You have to comunicate with Orthomerica Inc. (877.737.8444) e-mail: ghicks@... they will inform you where you can get a Star band (in which hospital closer to your home) and the take the measurements with a scanner. Sorry about my english I am from Uruguay and I travel once a month to Miami to controll the Star band of my son. Good luck!! undecided Hi group,My daughter has mild positional plagio and torticollis.
