Guest guest
Another possibility you might look into is adrenal fatigue or other malfunctions of the adrenal gland. I'm looking into this possible answer to my frequent anxiety attacks, on the advice of my primary care doctor. First we worked on getting my blood sugars stable, but when that didn't resolve the situation, my doctor suggested investigating my adrenals. Foods play a role in blood sugar, naturally, and can also play a part in how our adrenals (and the rest of our endocrine system) function. But since my anxiety attacks started the day my Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (upper GI malfunction) started, there appears to be a connection. And for the past two years I have been unable to tolerate epinephrin, my body reacts extremely. As you probably know, epinephrin triggers adrenaline. Anyway, just another thought to consider. Kim M. Also I have lost a few Lbs. (30) and my Blood Glucose is now in range, I think get the jitters from this as well. > > Dianna > >
Guest guest
Hi Kim M, Can you tell me a little bit about how you and your doc go about investigating adrenals? I think I have this issue too and I think it also it associated with anxiety etc. Thanks, Jodi SCD 12 months Crohn's/Colitis > > Another possibility you might look into is adrenal fatigue or other > malfunctions of the adrenal gland. Guest guest
This is a good place to start. I will contact my doc tomorrow. I have added a little bit of carbs to may diet and the anxiety is still there. I also have noise/ringing in the ears. BTW, my bleeding has stopped in the last few days. It seems this is a direct result of the SCDiet. and maybe cort-enamas. I have been bleeding for 2 1/2 years. Thanks for the post, I am keeping up when possible. Guest guest
Hi Jodi I'm still learning what's involved in adrenal testing, but my doctor is first looking at cortisol levels, then ACTH and CRH stimulation tests, then probably another CT scan. He's looking at adrenal insufficiency first, and there's lots of information online about this. 's is one of the diseases associated with adrenal insufficiency. There's also adrenal fatigue, a milder form of adrenal insufficiency, caused by chronic stress. Most of us with digestive disorders deal with chronic stress so it's fairly common. What I don't fully understand yet is the role adrenal issues relate to thyroid and also the heart. I know the adrenal and thyroid issues can cause mitral valve problems, but don't understand the mechanisms as yet. In my situation, the way my body has developed an extreme overreaction to epinephrin has raised a warning flag to my new primary doctor (thank goodness!, finally some action) so he's investigating the adrenals. I'm also pushing for a thorough look at my thyroid too, getting tests beyond the standard few, as I have so many hypothyroid symptoms. Essentially my body systems are deteriorating one after another [grin]. First the digestion, then the nervous system, now the endocrine system... However, I'll keep you posted. Kim M.
