In the butcher section of the grocery store, my butcher told me (last night) that the bacon had nothing added. No preservatives or seasoning. It's nothing but meat. You might want to check with your butcher. My guy said the prepackaged shelf bacon sits around so they add stuff but the butcher bacon flies out the door.

scd LEGAL BACON?

Does anybody know any brand of bacon that is SCD legal? Thanks,Steve

Here is the kind I buy and it agrees with me:

Hempler's Natural Uncured Bacon. It's a company in Ferndale,

Washington.

Ingredients: Natural Pork, Water, Sea Salt, Organic Honey and

Celery Powder.

To find out of this bacon is available in your area, contact the

company. Caution: They have other bacon products that contain

no-nos.

Steve, in your regular grocery store there is bacon, it contains nitrates but some don't want to use meat with nitrates. Plumrose low sodium, Gwaltey, Wellsley Farms low sodium are a couple names. Elaine says you can eat regular bacon once a week, cooked very crisp if you can't find any without sugar. Katy

I live in Portland, Oregon and I found bacon in the freezer section of the nutrition section. It is called Organic Prairie - say no nitrates, not preserved. They use organic pork, water, sea salt, organic honey, celery juice powder, organic spices and lactic acid starter culture."Organic Spices" might mean it includes sugar and I have not had time to research that portion, but my understanding is that we can eat bacon once a week - as long as it is crispy. My understanding is that if it is really crispy it does not have to be 100% legal. Group, am I correct on this? They are out of Wisconsinwww.organicprarie.com1-877-OMC -Meat

I live in the Portland, Oregon area as well. Haggen's has a bacon

that I can eat. It's located in the same area as all the illegal

bacons. I spent a lot of time reading labels before I found this

one.

It sounds very similar to the one you found. I usually divide the

package and freeze half of it. Since it doesn't have any

preservatives in it, it doesn't keep as long as the regular

bacon.
