Guest guest
Hello everyone- Just made yogurt with half and half I bought at the farmers market-I use the yogo-gormet starter.Usually it is thick and delicious-always with a thicker flaky skin on top. BUT this batch was very yellow on top and then much thiner below the top skin.I don't think I did anything differently- anyone know what might have happened? and if it is ok to eat? Thanks for any ideas, susan crohn's 2 years scd 1.5 years imuron asacol
Guest guest
Yeah, that's okay. sounds like the cream separated a bit and rose to the top. the cream bit gets yellow. also there may be seasonal differences in milk coloration and fat content, etc. depending on food. I'm betting the half and half from the Farmer's Market was not homogenized, and separated into the thicker cream yogurt and the thinner milk yogurt during fermentation. I've had that happen many times with FM milks. Just stir it up together with a whisk, and it should be delicious. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
