prednisone question about getting off

I convinced my Rheumatologist to get me off the prednisone. I've

been lowering my dosage every 2 weeks. Is this the right time amount

to lower it? A friend of mine was on pred and was off within a

month, she was lowering it every week. I am asking because the

amount of pred that I have left will short me by a couple of days and

I don't was to get a refill on the prescription if it isn't nessesary.

Any info about this would be great.
