Rootbeer / Sassafras concern

A few days ago Aizaeen had a soda question regarding a solution to

missing soda. Here's the original post:

I suggested making your own rootbeer from sassafras root bark as I had

once done. I couldn't find any BTVC literature at the time preventing

it, so I gave it a shot. I didn't feel any adverse reactions, but now

I'm having second thoughts given a new perspective:

Rootbeer is a bark tea that happens to be sweetened and carbonated.

Elaine explicitly advised SCDers to not use the bark tea Pau D'Arco.

Sassafras root bark may be completely different, but I think it would

be wise to either avoid it completely or use it with caution.
