Hi Kathy,

Do you have a BJ's wholesale club next to you. I know they carry it.

All The Best, Lou

I can't find this anywhere! Can I just take large curd cottage cheese and rinse it off really well? I tried dripped homemade yogurt and I thought it was yucky plain. I was using qeuso fresca because according to wikepedia is was basically the same, but now I have my doubts.

~Kathy The new concern is that a week ago (before I started scd) she developed a dark green, weird smelling stool. I at first thought it was the raw green smoothie she had & green vegetables, but since starting the scd, we've had no greens and her stool continued to smell funny and be dark, dark green. I don't think it't because of quick transit time because she'll have it even when it's been 6-7 hours since she's gone. Yesterday the color changed from dark green to more of a dark grey and the consistency is different than her usual stools. I'm worried that it could be melena, and that her Crohn's has now spread to her upper intestines. I'm afraid to take her to the dr. because I know they'll want to put her on medications, but I will if I have to but then again, she doesn't even seem sick.I'm sure someone will kick in with something more targeted, but meanwhile:http://www.pecanbread.com/new/begindiet1soup.htmlChanges in stool color in the beginning are common, and indicate lots of changes are going on! Strong odors can indicate that there is an increase in gut pathogens. Pale stool means that there is a lack of bile. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!First, you should join pecanbread - a weblist for parents of children with autism on SCD. But it is not only for autistic kids and the mothers there are very used to dealing with symptoms of kids and have excellent advice. http://www.pecanbread.com/new/local1.htmlPlus they have an excellent website with tons of advice. Here's some intro advice you should read:http://www.pecanbread.com/new/begindiet1soup.htmlOn Nov 11, 2008, at 12:53 PM, Kathy wrote:I can't find this anywhere! Uh, no, you can't just rinse regular cottage cheese. Read the label and

see what they make the " cream " out of these days -- carrageenan

and guar gum and modified food starch, and ghu-knows-what. Been there,

done that. Tried washing regular cottage cheese. Thought I got away with

it. Didn't. (Details probably in the archives somewhere.)

What determines a cheese's legality is whether or not bacteria and/or

enzymes have broken down the lactose.
